HappyJMA Wageningen organises very happy local activities and small friendly environmental actions. The group also organises Food not Bombs once a month in Wageningen (look under 'Recurring activities' in the menu) and regularly organises Free Hugs activities. Everyone is always very welcome to join our activities! :-)

Food Not Bombs today!
Today, we will have Food Not Bombs action at the market square in Wageningen! We will be there from +/- 13:00 untill 15:30. If you want some delicious free food, come by to get some! Or if you want to help, you can come by the Arion in the morning (see www.wso.wur.nl for a map) or the market square in the afternoon.

HappyJMA meeting coming Tuesday
Tuesday, the 9th of March, there will be a HappyJMA meeting (starting at 19:00). You are free to come and share your thoughts with us! We will mainly discuss the coming actions. Before the meeting starts, we have dinner together (starting at 18:00). If you want to join, please send us an e-mail, so we know how many people will come and how many people to cook for.

Valentine's tips!
Don't know what to give your valentine? Why not give her/him a sustainable non-materialistic present like a hug, a massage or a home-cooked dinner or take a nice walk together in the forest? This is a much better way of showing your love than buying cheap and useless presents that cost a lot of energy and material to produce.
Next week, HappyJMA will hand out coupons for immaterial gifts at the market square and also do a happy action outside Forum. More information about this will follow soon.

Food not Bombs with special guest
Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd of January, Arion (Niemeijerstraat 6 – see www.wso.wur.nl for a map)/market of Wageningen
This Food not Bombs is a special one! One of the founders, Keith McHenry, is joining this time! He will give a presentation on the Friday from 20:00 about the history of Food not Bombs! For more information about Keith, you can look at http://www.foodnotbombs.net/keithbio.html.
The idea behind Food not Bombs is to give away left-over food of shops, to draw attention to the amounts of food that are thrown away every day and also to just give people a nice meal. We will collect food from shops and market stalls during the week and cook on Friday evening (17:30-21:00) and on Saturday morning (9:30-13:00). We will hand out free food to all people at the market (13:00-15:30). People who want to help with the cooking and giving away of the food are very welcome! Please let us know if you will help and/or join the presentation on Friday.

Buy Nothing Day!!
Coming Saturday is International Buy Nothing Day. HappyJMA always celebrates this day in a very special way. We offer people positive alternatives to mindless consuming by building a living room at the market square in Wageningen and giving people free tea, free Food not Bombs soup, free company, free games, Free Hugs and the opportunity to exchange clothes and other things with each other. This will be a very nice day!! You are all invited to come to the market square on Saturday between 10:00 and 16:00 to have some fun together and to not-shop!!

This weekend Food Not Bombs!
This weekend we will have a Food Not Bombs action again! We wil be on the market Saturday (the 7th of November) from 13:00 untill some time between 16:00 and 17:00. You are all welcome to eat some delicious food (for free :-))! You can of course also help us cook. We will cook at the Arion (Niemeijerstraat 6, see www.wso.wur.nl for a map) on Friday from 5 pm and on Saturday from 10 am. You can just walk in to help, or send us an email.

Upcoming meeting
Next Tuesday, the 3th of November, we will have our next meeting. The coordinators have made an agenda with some extra documents about the topics we will discuss. We will also talk about the upcoming Buy Nothing Day (28 November)! We will have dinner before the meeting together as well. Wake up, politicians!
Last Monday, eighty students and employees of the Wageningen University formed the words 'Wake up!', to ask politicians to give more attention to the changing climate. Information evening coming up!
Do you like what you see on this website and want to learn more about HappyJMA? Then come to our information evening on Thursday 24th of September! We will give a Powerpoint presentation about our organisation and for the rest we can just chat with eachother. There will be tea and organic cookies :-) The presentation will start at 8 pm at the Arion, Niemeijerstraat 6 (see www.wso.wur.nl for a map of the location). Everyone is welcome to come! 9-9-9 Sustainable pavement chalking!
During the night before the Day of Sustainability, 9-9-'09, a few members of HappyJMA Wageningen wrote 9 tips to be more sustainable on the steps in front of the Forum building of the Wageningen University, using pavement chalk (stoepkrijt). Click here to see some photos! Unfortunately the cleaners already removed the tips the next morning... Maybe they reminded the university that they are not so sustainable themselves...?

Saturday Climate March in Amsterdam!
This Saturday, four members of HappyJMA Wageningen will join the monthly climate march in Amsterdam! This march is organised by several environmental groups and also supported by our mother organisation Friends of the Earth. The aim of the marches is to draw attention to the climate problems and to make visible that many citizens are concerned about this. We will meet at the Museumplein in Amsterdam at 1 pm to make signs and we will start the march at 2 pm. We will of course give the march a Happy twist. ;-)

Tomorrow Happy Letters
Tomorrow, August 12th, we will have a new action! It's called "Happy Letters", and our intention is to ask people to write a letter to someone (a family member or an old friend, for example) they haven't seen and/or spoken since a long time. The starting time is 10 o'clock and we will be there until somewhat around 12 o'clock. We hope te restore some lost contacts and spread love and happiness. So, all who want to do this, come to market in Wageningen tomorrow!

Presentation for Boerengroep discussion about action styles
On May 18th, the Boerengroep organised a movie and discussion evening about action styles. First they showed the really funny and cool movie "The Yes Men", about some men pretending to be from the WTO and telling the Truth about the WTO. Afterwards, two local action groups, we and the WEP, told something about our own action styles. Then there was a small discussion. People liked our presentation and our positive way of having actions :-)

Creative afternoon last week
Last week we had a very good and sunny creative afternoon for HappyJMA. With a few active members, we made a small banner and a big wooden sign with space for flyers and for a poster about an activity. :-) We can't wait to show our creative promotion material at the next action!

Food not Bombs April 4th
We were not with many people, but it was nice :-) Nice food, nice weather, nice people, what more does a person want! Again we were amazed by all the positive reactions of the people on the market. We were also quite amazed that Everyone seemed to like our tempeh :-) More about Food not Bombs here (click).
